First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this post and keeping an interest in the KITT-Simulator after all these years. I am writing this post to announce a new release cycle for the Simulator.
However, I would like to start by answering one of the most asked question: “why did you not release anything these last years?”
Well, to be honest, I did not have a lot of time. Besides that, I have also spend a lot of time making new versions from scratch. But none of them where any good in my opinion. That is why, in the beginning of this month, I made a decision not to work on new versions from the ground up anymore, but instead expand on the one that already works.
That might bring up a new question: “what can we expect to see in these new versions?”
Well, first of all I need to do some proper code cleaning. It’s code from when I first started programming. So to be honest, it’s quite a mess. After that I will start to tweak the interface a little, and then I will start adding new features. One of the things I would really like to do is improve the AI and add a better conversation system. And I have more things on my personal wish-list, but that still needs to be worked out.
So what’s next? Next week I will release version 2.6.1 to the public. Everyone will be able to download it and try it out. After that release I will start the code cleaning, and after that is done, version 2.6.2 (the “clean code” version) will be available to all the kind people who have donated to the project. And each and every version after that will also be available to the supporters first.
Which brings me to the last part of this news article. If you have donated to the project in the past (with a minimum donation of $7,50), or bought a collectors edition, please get in touch with me! Because all new versions will be put in a Dropbox folder where you will be able to download it as soon as I upload it. But I do need to put you on the access list. So please e-mail me the PayPal e-mail address you used to donate/buy the CE, or even better, the PayPal transaction number, and the e-mail address you use for Dropbox. If you do not have a Dropbox account yet, please create one using the following link (that will give me more storage space): http://db.tt/iBMQ81O
I do hope that you will provide me with feedback on the builds that I release. So if you encounter any bugs, please let me know so I can fix them in the next version.
That’s it for now. To sum it all up:
- The KITT-Simulator will be actively developed again.
- Next week KITT-Simulator 2.6.1 will be made publicly available in the download section.
- Donations/Collectors Edition owners can e-mail me in order to get access to the Dropbox folder with the most recent versions
Thank you for reading this post. And if you have any questions regarding this post, feel free to contact me.
